I received this today as part of my guest article series. Very enlightening.

This is Guest article 3

ROOTS PARENTING FORUM by Dr. Deepali

As parents we want to give our children the best. I am a parent to a Six year old son who goes to one of the conventional schools in South Mumbai.

I,as a parent believe in alternative education but unfortunately we do not have any here (except TRIDHA at Vile Parle). But at the same time I believe that whichever school a child goes to it is we who spend the maximum time with him and it is up to us how we want to see him grow.

Me with a friend of mine started ROOTS PARENTING FORUM where we like-minded parents meet once a month to discuss various issues related to children to reach the best solution. We are guided in our mission by 4 passionate educators who have been in this field for 15 to 20 years

We have been conducting these workshops since a year. We have invited educators from SHRI AUROBINDO ASHRAM and from WALDORF EDUCATION. We look forward to invite educators from different schools of thought to share their experiences.

We even plan to have small programs for kids arranged by these educators who have completely holistic approach of upbringing.

We at ROOTS believe that our children spend maximum time with us at home rather than a school . If one actually sits to calculate the hours which a child spends at home we will realize how privileged we are as parents to give them the adequate environment that we want.

Our coming workshop is on 29 July 2010 on “LEARNING WITHOUT ADULT INTERFERENCE” by Mrs.Lekha Merchant, Principal Saifee Nursery, Mumbai

We would be pleased to receive any suggestions from you’ll if there are any educators whom we can invite for such discussions. Do get in touch with me if interested to share you views, on  roots.kids@gmail.com

  1. Preschool activities help kids in the development and improvement of their learning experiences & behaviour, making them confident, eager and keen learners. Online activity enables you to download these printable worksheets of coloring pages from the internet and allow your kids to play with crayons, water colors which keeps them occupied for hours and hours. Drawing is again a learning exercise which is equally enjoyable. To draw step by step any given shape or picture is a milestone achievement for a child.
